If All the Worlds's a Stage and We are Merely Players -

 - Does that mean I can add 'Actress' to my resume?

All jest aside, I hope this finds you well. Whoever you might be.

I'm going to attempt something the remainder of this year.

One post a month.

One short story I've written - credited and hopefully out of the artificial thieves hands that are constantly lurking about trying to steal, pardon, "learn from", those who know how to write.

Keep an eye out.

I know there may be one of you out there.

Good evening, and good night.

Coming Around

Here's a little post for today - the 13th Day of October.

Since the last time I posed on this blog there are a few things that have transpired.

College - Creative Writing. A perfect resolution to school.

Disney College Program - living down in Orlando, exploring the parks, and working for a mouse.

The Pandemic - or panda, or whichever you prefer to call it.

Coming back down to Orlando to work full time for a mouse.

Once again, I'm going to be changing things up. Doing something different.

My Cozette has passed away this year. She lived a lovely life inside the final few years, with me. I was with her the entire time, so she was never alone. I held her in my arms as she went to someplace where the pain wouldn't follow.

It took her almost two months to find a suitable replacement.

My dear little Pyewacket has come into my life at five and a half years old. She's a perfect cuddle companion. Seeking me out wherever I am. Ignoring the vast cushion that has her blanket on it, to slide up and cuddle next to me. Paws on my leg, or back up against me.

She's playful, energetic, and deceptively quick.

I'm waiting to see what the remaining two and half months bring.

Have a lovely day. Keep smiling.

[Perhaps I'll add a photo later on.]

Can you Forgive Me?

I utterly forgot about this particular blog.

Forgive me.

But I have been keeping up a different one, and began a new one for a business, though I may just use this blog instead.

Any readers out there?

Looking for a Friend

I know it's Thanksgiving. I have much to be thankful for, but right now I need someone's shoulder to cry on.

It seems no matter what I do, I'm always put on the back burner because the mistakes and screwups of others. I have to cancel things I'd planned, give up days when I could work, and sacrifice time helping them out - only to have them shove things in my face, take away the few things I enjoy and make life one miserable circle of Dante.

Then, when I think about all of this I feel like a complete jerk. As though I sholdn't be complaining because of what has happened. I feel like I'm acting like an entitled brat who doesn't deserve this because 'the other person is doing something better'. Then I feel like crap all over again.

It's this neverending cycle of 'what am I doing wrong', and 'why am I the one crying'?

There's no one I can turn to - so I'm just looking for a friend right now. Someone who doesn't know me, who can tell me things will somehow work out even though they're completely screwed up and life just completely sucks and this entire year has been nothing but huge beat down until I'm so far in the dirt I don't know which way is up.

Just, looking for a friend.

Intern - Costumes - Sleep

I've been working at an intership since the beginning of August. So far, it's been unpaid, which I didn't really mind (till today really). Starting today (technically Wednesday) I'm getting paid to do the intern. Right now I'm doing voice overs, which is ironic considering I'm working on an audio project with a group of others.

It's a splendind gig, a 9-5 weekday thing that's flexible in case of emergency. Sometimes though I think that working a job is what hits me. Rephrase: I like working, but I don't. I want something to do each day, to feel like I've accomplished something, but I don't really like working. Maybe someday I'll figure out that problematic situation.

In other news, I've acquired the ingredients needed for a Halloween costume I've been wanting to make for over a decade. Everything is in place, and I've been lucky enough to have some help from an excellent costumer/semestress. The progress is coming along (I'll include photos at the bottom of this post.) Basically, I have the pattern for the dress Christine Daae wears in the 2004 movie version of "The Phantom of the Opera", specifically the Masquerade scene. It's not in pink, as I have fair skin and the light color wouldn't work with me - so it's Royal Blue (according fabric.com). I'm glad that this is finally happening! I will have to make a few adjustments, as it's chilly out - so I will be making attachable sleeves to go with it. Hopefully I'll become a better blogger and keep my follower updated. :)

As for sleep - it seems that no matter how much I try, going to sleep early only seems to get my body rested. My mind prefers to stay up and awake. Or it could be because of that ONE FREKIN COLD SPOT ON THE SMALL OF MY BACK!

Seriously - every night! I've got a blanket, two heavier comforters (a bit threadworne, but still useable) and about five extra mini ones! (I had to add another one last night, but it didn't quite work out.)

I love the cold, but I despise it at the same time. I need some decent sleep - especially since I went to bed about two hours before I normally do.

Being a night owl I often stay up late - getting more things done than I normally would. It works well, because I always get 8 hours of sleep. Sometimes if I go to be at 12 (or around thearabouts) I can be up at 8 and feel fine. Maybe last night was just an odd witch. In bed about 11:30 - up all night, then finally kicking the bucket at 7:15. Which is odd because  I stayed in bed till about 8 - just to grab some extra rest - but it didn't really help. Still yawning like a cat over here.

So there's an update - and probably more information that you wanted to know for the day.

((Here's the Photos so far - I took more last night and will upload them later on.))

Freelance Writer - At Your Service

I'm back - hopefully I can update this weekly. Who knows?

So - I'm looking to make a little extra cash and someone (and the internet) said one of the best ways is to freelance write. They both recommended starting out by blogging.

Well.

I have a blog.

True, I don't update it as much as I'd like and find that some days are better at blogging than others. Though I guess that's the rub of it, eh?

I think I'd be a great freelance writer - I have enough time (at the moment) to write about things. I've written (still am) short stories while working on a novel (which, who isn't at this time in the world?).

I'll probably peruse the locals/newspapers and see if I can dig something up. If anyone who reads this knows of anyone I should contact - feel free to drop a line!

Who knew?

August

So, no update from me since April. I guess the A months are winning out.

It's been hectic the last few months. I rarely get a moment to breathe anymore. This job is crazy and fast-paced. Some days I get home just to take a shower and sleep.

But, in the long run, it's not so bad. I've managed to save more in these few months than half a year in a retail position. That's will taking a little out of each paycheck to use on food and essentials for two weeks between paychecks.

I have today off - which is kinda weird. It's the first day off in over two weeks, but considering most of the other drivers work for almost a month with no break, I'm not too complainy. Tonight they have a company whale watching thing - I'm not going. I waited until I knew what my paycheck would be and then called and asked if I could still sign up today - apparently the cut off date was Thursday. Jerks. Oh well, that's saving the $25 dollars they want from everyone.

Tonight, if I don't hear back from my non-driver friend, I'll go see "Guardians of the Galaxy" and grab some take out. Or I'll stay in and have a "Dr Who" marathon.

Right now "The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" is on TNT. Best day ever. Watching Pirates, then Dr Who on commercials. Best way to spend a rainy day.

So - there's my little update - for anyone still reading this.

One Month So Far

So far I've been up in Alaska for a few days over a month.

Things have been different since coming up here. I've learned to control some things, while learning to live on my own without the help of my parents financially speaking. Living within the means that I have has been exceptionally difficult so far - since I only had so much that I came up here with.

Today is another milestone - my new roommate arrives today! I'm kinda of excited and absolutely terrified. I haven't had a roommate since back in high school when I had to share a room with one of my sisters. There are so many odd quirks that I have and I hope we can find our mutual point of understanding and hopefully become friends.

To all my friends who've had college roommates: how did you get along? What kind of advice would you give to someone who's never lived with a non-family member before?

I feel like I'm way behind the curve with this one. Any advice would be helpful.

North to Alaska!

It's finally happening.

I'm getting the chance to move out on my own. It's a 6 month stint working for a cruise line, but it's in a place where I have no relations.

I leave this week and haven't started packing yet. I really don't want to. I was going to do it all today - but I just don't want to. What the heck do I pack for 6 months? How do I fit it all in one checked bag?

Anyway, just thought I'd update with a happier note to leave you on. (If anyone is reading this thing at all.)

Glad to be able to go out into the world and see how I cope.

Any advice, recommendations are warmly welcomed!

Feeling back on my Feet

I've been sick since last Sunday.

I came home from work last Saturday - ok. I went to work, had a $2.46 dinner (foot long sandwich, drink and chips! Hello coupon!), grabbed a few dollar tree snacks and went to see "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" for the second time with a friend then I went home.

Sunday morning I woke up and nearly coughed up a lung. /exaggeration

The entire week was spent avoiding my phone, sleeping till noon, eating cough drops, and beginning my official first online class! Yay! Website Business 250!

Needless to say I feel bushels better, though a cough still likes to plague me when I try and sing still. Ah well, pros and cons of not singing a lot anywho.

For those of you who follow my other blog - the one with all my church notes - I made a discovery. I actually have two other notebooks that kinda correlate. As in I was writing notes in one, then had to finish that day's notes in another one, which I almost posted here. I'm almost done typing up the pink and green stripped one (on page 117 out of 177!). But I found another 2 - one withe all early morning Seminary notes, the other with notes from 2008. I was going to start posting them all in order, but that's not going to happen now. If you want to follow that blog just read the first post first. It'll make sense and give some insight into me. :)

Here's to keep blogging! Cheers! Off to a far better New Year.

Happy New Year! Or Not

So, I rang in the New Year at home. I was actually able to sing in the shower last night too, because Issues wasn't in the house. I was able to let go some of the tension I'd been feeling.

This morning I was up at 9:15. I got ready then went to work from 11-4, which I thought was 5. It was a tedious day of organizing and alphabetizing video games. I was glad I'd messed up the times and was able to go home early. That was a mistake.

At home I was all settled in to eat dinner and finally relax, since I now had a headache and my body's trying to get itself sick. So, on the couch "I don't like you touching my cushion." "Fine, happy? I'm so sick of your and your issues!" "Here dad, there's a spot for you on the couch, there's too much attitude down here for me."

Then dad yells at all of us and we get banished to our rooms. No dinner. No relaxing on the couch. Nothing.

Background:
Older sister going through a divorce. Been at our hour the past two years+. In that time I've been yelled at by my dad various times, have had to give up my car, my singing in the shower and any free time in the living room during the day. I've also had to delete all the shows I was watching on the TV because she was dumb enough to watch them at the most inappropriate time.

Question:

When is time to stop using your "issues"?
When do you make someone realize they're hurting you the same way your ex was hurting you?

Not such a "Happy" New Year.

Advice is Something I really Need

Right now all I want to do is find somewhere where none of my sisters and their frekin issues exist and cry.

I am so sick of them and how they always get their way with being complete jerks just because one incident that happened years ago. They milk it for all its worth and just don't give a damn about the rest of us. I've lost my singing voice, screw it. Who cares what I've lost? That just makes me the 'princess' to them.

Wanting to burst into tears, but too damn stubborn to do so.

A Short Digression

I couldn't tell you the exact time it started. I think all sense of past and present have sort of mingled and merged in my mind. I want to say that it began with a movie. A story told by projection onto a large while canvas screen with an orchestra of about thirty beneath it, adding sound to the mute. I was sitting in the back row – my personal favorite place to sit when viewing such a spectacle – completely alone and quite at ease with myself. The day had been full of running around, shopping for items that would either be appreciated with joy or discarded with dread in a months time. I’d gone to all the big department stores around the city, making sure I walked the halls and rooms of each one before deciding on what to buy and where to buy it. Most of the stores were competing with each other now. If one had a certain price the other across the street, or a few streets over, would have it for dozens of dollars cheaper. It was their ploy to get the world to go out and buy more. They wanted their own Christmas specials to go on and on and laden their own pockets with as much money as they could. The bonuses they would receive from the increased sales would go over well with the poor sales people they only hired for the season. Most of them didn’t work outside of the holidays. Sometimes the huge paychecks that came from just the two or three months lasted them well through to the next big sale that was bound to happen when the lover’s holiday (loosly termed because I still have work and children still have to suffer through the lectures of their teachers) made it’s way into the new year. Everything had a season and a place, and somehow the retail and merchants always found a way to exploit them for all they were worth to get their sales and merchandise up and out of the store.

But, I digress.

This story is not about the retail market and how it hungers to make its numbers. Nor is it about those poor sales people who work long hours and yet still manage to have time to smile and say thank you. No, I will leave those fanciful tales to the bards of old: Shakespeare (the bare himself), Dumas and, more to the letter Dickens.

My story is more about what happened when a projection failed to perform its task of taking away a theater full of hundreds of people to a different land for a few hours. My story is about the world beneath and often directly in front of our noses that we often and very realistically neglect to see.

My story is about Eyowls.

Now, I know what you’re probably (or at the very least most likely) thinking of me by now.

‘What sort of man goes about talking about things called Eyowls?’

‘Really, he should leave off the pretend for the little ones.’

‘A man of his age and position can not afford to believe in something so fanciful and unrealistic.’

I have to admit, my favorite comment was given by my last employer. To get to his comment I must first explain something of the man. He is of old money, a term given to anyone born into a family that has always had wealth and fortune. He never did anything odd or unordinary. In University he was a respectable man who never took to drink, drug or the smoke. He stayed very clean and neat, just like his father, and his father’s father, and so on all the way back to the twentieth or fiftieth father. Their family was made up of normal, ordinary men who did things with their money to ensure they stayed part of the ‘old families’. They married members of other  Old Families and never bothered with who they hired or what happened when one of them was laid off. My old employer was nearing thirty in years, had a wash of sand blown hair and a neat mustache to match. He had inherited his mother’s blue eyes, which is quite natural for a man in his position. The men often inherited the eyes of their mothers and the statures of their fathers. It was the same for him. He knew he was rich, looked rich, felt rich and was by the very definition rich.

The day after the extraordinary event with the projection and my first encounter with the Eyowls I went into work, believing the whole episode to be nothing by a hazed dream. Unlike those around me in my profession I gladly took the odd drink now and again. It often helped to get my fingers fluid enough to perform the work of the day. Journalists seldom made any real money and I was waiting for an editor to make me more than just a broke journalist. My boss, a Mr. Ranchet, often told me that I would never go anywhere in the world as a mere writer. He would often tell me, ‘Journalists can go almost anywhere they like or choose to go. They don’t need to find an excuse – there’s always a story happening where they go. They can just pick up and be gone in less than an hour. But writers? What else can they do except sit in the pubs and take up space and good ale? I’m not a drinking man myself, but I can tell you that most chairs in the pubs these days are wasted with writers who’ve spent all they had and are looking for a free handout.’

What does he know?

He may be a lord and have a fancy house and a title, but I am much more than a writer now. I am the keeper of some secret world that children will often dream about. They go to the most fantastic places a person can imagine and have the most wonderful adventures! The sad thing is, when they wake they find the grim reality of their lives before them. If they are lucky they have enough money through which to keep on being fanciful. If they have some luck their parents will let them continue with the dream until they head off to school. If luck is even present then it is often quelched by the reality of the jobs they have to perform to keep their own families above the receding water line. The final group has no luck, no hope, nothing at all to keep them from their fantasy. They have nothing to begin with, and then they have their wonderful adventure. After that happens they will always have that hope, that sense of something greater than them, of the world. They are the ones that the rest of the world look upon as fools, the insane and often the homeless.

We live in a sad time when the dreams of the few are often squished aside for the power hungry of the many. The world races by in front of them, leaving them to often regret what they’ve dreamed. They become lost in a world of cynics and strangers. Their eyes are the dull round orbs with a bright center. They are the ones who long to share a story, but because of the cruelty of mankind withhold their precious tales until they die and the dust and wind obtain them forever.

Once again I find myself thinking back to that day at the theater. I was enjoying a day deserved away from the offices, trying to lose myself in a fanciful tale only a true liar could appreciate (for are not all actors and actresses liars? They are some of the best and would put even the hardiest of spies to shame with the stories and identities they could use!). When the picture frizzled out I groaned with the masses, and looked around like the masses. I saw the orchestra members falter in their music. The conductor paused and turned to look up at the booth above my head. It was still dark in the theater so there was really nothing that we could see. I finally got up, excused myself through the line of other patrons, apologizing to the women and men I was upsetting. I slipped out into the hall, turning away from the garish light of the gas lamps. They were unusually bright that afternoon and it stung my eyes something fierce. I found the stairwell up to the projection booth after a failed attempt at finding one of the workers of the theater. No one seemed to be on duty to attend to the patrons in the main hall. When I reached the top of the stairs I was flustered and ready to give my mind to the man who had neglected the film strip. I had a full argument and disapproving speech prepared for those who were in charge.

I placed my hand upon the knob and pushed it open.

What I found inside the room was enough to startle me speechless. There were no men in the room, only three Eyowls.

Thanksgiving Blue Part One

Once again I was up in my room. Hiding away from the masses on the first floor. I’d done my best that morning while trying to watch the Macy’s parade. I’d managed to keep in all the frustration of a mother ignoring her children and making others watch after them. But when the parade ended and the TV was shut off I sort of lost it. I asked her to look after her own children and she went back into the whole ‘I’m better than you, I have children you don’t, stop telling me what to do.’ Because having her own father telling her to watch her children mere minute before hadn’t done a single thing.

So, here I was, hiding up where I wouldn’t cause more trouble. That always happened when my sisters were around. I would always be the one in trouble, always the one getting the lectures of how to be a better person, the one getting the long speeches about how I need to get married.

Marriage? What’s that going to solve? So far it’s done next to nothing for the first five who’ve tried it. Seriously? Is that the excuse for every conversation now?

‘When are you going to get married?’

‘When are you going to move out?’

‘You’re not a mother, I’m not going to listen to anything you say, but I will treat you like a child just because I’m a mother and you’re not.’

“I can’t take it anymore!” I slam my fist against a pillow. “Why is it my holiday has to be ruined because you can’t keep track of your own children? Isn’t it bad enough you make the oldest look after them? ”

I lean back on my bed, wondering how I’m going to make it through a car ride and a movie with them. They wanted to have a ‘Girl’s Day’. I think they just want mom to spend more money on them so they can complain and wreak havoc behind her back.

‘You don’t see mom and dad complaining about or.’

Yeah? Well, they have the decency not to tell you you’re being a complete jerk to your kids! Unlike me, who will tell you sitting on your butt drawing or doing ‘homework’ while ignoring your kids to let them do whatever they want – including getting into everything while you’re not watching – is not the best parenting skills. Screw the fact that ‘I’m not a mother’ – I’ve seen enough with my own mom to know those kinds of things are not to be tolerated while at someone else’s house! Let them screw up your own home, but for heaven’s sake teach them to be more respectful at someone else’s house!

There I go again. This was supposed to be a ‘fun’ Thanksgiving. Instead it’s turning into one of Dante’s circles. I promise you, he had no idea what one of those circles was. Visiting family members ought to be their own little circle: it’s a nightmare of noise (which is tolerable when their younger children), older siblings (who still treat you like you’re five when you’re in University!) and in-laws with more screw-ups under their belt than a construction worker.

I really need to find something to be thankful for. I can’t end the day like this. It’s barely 12:26 in the afternoon! I still have the entire day to try and find a way to survive!

Utah - to Home

I've been in Salt Lake City since midnight last Saturday. Today I'm heading home.

I went for a job interview at the public library, and managed to add one for the Opera house there as well. I had a fun time walking around, getting a few pictures and videos in. It was an entertaining short mini-find-job-vacation.

The main goal is to move back out here as soon as I have a job.

Yay!

Morning flights, with a 10 minute stop in NYC.

Whoot!

Adieu.

Still alive and Kicking

Hey, all you wonderful readers.

So, in the time since my last entry here - way long ago and far away - I've managed to keep up with school and have had a few different jobs.

As of now I have skills in:

- car headlights
- music rental
- barrista

That's to add the skills in:

- front house
- chiropractic
- dry cleaning
- accountant assistant
- and general retail

Right now I'm looking into moving out to San Antonio, Texas.

I'm also back in school, online through BYU-I.

And I'm back in the market for a job - with something I'm really more proficient and good at doing:
THEATRE!

Oh! I also have another blog going here: http://ldsnotesforall.blogspot.com/

Six Months Later

Wow, I fail at keeping up with this thing.

For news:

- I'm done with my Acssociate's Degree (in theatre).

- I've worked as Stage Manager for the last production at my previous college. We did Hamlet - by the great Bard.

- Um, I'm working on a Health class this summer (which took two frekin' weeks to come through the mail. It's an online class, but I'm doing the paper version because I don't want to be stuck on a computer all day long.)

- I'm still trying to find a full time job - despite the boost of jobs, it's still hard for ANYONE to find one.

In recent news (don't ask me why I did this) I downloaded the entire soundtrack for Love Never Dies, the current mess that is in London. Sadly it's everything I dreaded it would be. I had to listen to it (by force) in small bursts because it made me so angry. It destroyed everything I love about the original story. (BTW: It's Webber's "sequel" to the greatest Broadway show of all time that really doesn't need one.)

Maybe I just love torturing myself because it was as atrocious and foul as I'd first imagined. At least now I won't have to burn money to see it live, despite all the "re-vamping" it's still getting.

[/rant]

Anywho, on to more pleasant topics.

This summer I am going to be helping backstage at a community theatre. Their putting on the School Edition of my second favorite musical, Les Miserables. I'm so excited to be able to help with this!! It's going to be one of the highlights of my summer.

The other highlight of the summer is going to see The Phantom of the Opera with one of my friends and our mothers. We've got seats twenty-six rows from the stage on the orchestra level! I'm looking forward to that so much.

Thanks for reading my rantings, but then again "What are blogs for?" if not for rantings?

"Once More . . .

To my welcoming arms,

my love returns in splendor."

Heh heh, just kidding. A few lyrics from one of my favorite musicals.

So, to update from the last time that I posted something here:

-One of my best friends is getting married in a few short weeks

-School is almost out for the year

-I'm still job hunting

-I'm participating in NaNoWriMo (and kicking that 50000 word)

Um . . . other things . . .

I'm really looking forward to the new year. So much is going to happen next year and I can hardly wait!

Also, my birthday was last week, so I'm official (again). Well, I'm official enough to buy drinks (not that I drink. I don't. Why waste the time? I don't need to get hungover, I suffer enough without the added bonus of a headach.)

So, yeah.
EDIT: The pic is all for Rachel (Who I believe is the only one reading this). Remember that day? Our expressions are fabulous.
